Decoded is a tool that analyzes Terms of Service and Privacy Policy documents using AI, giving you a plain-English breakdown of what you're agreeing to.
URLs you submit. When you paste a URL or type a company name for analysis, we send it to our server to fetch and analyze the document. The URL and the analysis result are cached in our database so we don't have to re-analyze the same page twice.
Page content (extension only). If you use the browser extension, it may send the text content of the current page to our server for analysis. This text is used solely to generate the analysis and is stored only as part of the cache.
No accounts, no personal data. We do not require sign-up, do not collect your name or email, do not use cookies for tracking, and do not collect any personally identifiable information.
To generate analyses. URLs and page text are sent to the Anthropic API (Claude) for analysis. Anthropic's data usage policy applies to that processing. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
To cache results. Analyzed results are stored so repeat requests for the same URL are instant. The cache may be cleared at any time.
We do not sell, share, or use your data for advertising.
The Decoded extension runs locally in your browser. It detects when you're viewing a Terms of Service or Privacy Policy page and offers to analyze it. The extension:
Cached analyses are stored on our server and may be cleared at any time (our hosting uses ephemeral storage). The browser extension stores results locally for 7 days. We do not maintain long-term archives of analyzed documents.
